About Us

Helping businesses clarify their message and create websites that support their sales process and long-term growth.

Since 2004, I’ve worked with established businesses that care deeply about how their company is represented. Many come to me because something about their website no longer feels aligned – the message isn’t clear, the structure no longer fits the way the business operates, or the site simply hasn’t kept up with the company’s growth.

Over time I’ve found that most website challenges aren’t really design problems. They’re clarity problems.

When a business takes the time to define its message, align its stakeholders, and think carefully about how customers evaluate their options, the website becomes much easier to build – and far more effective once it launches.

That belief led to the Blueprint Development Meeting, a structured conversation designed to bring clarity to the foundation of a website before design ever begins.

The goal is simple: create a clear plan at the beginning that keeps the project focused, realistic, and free of surprises.

How I Came to Start Richterworks

In the early 2000s I worked in international conferences and spent a great deal of time on the internet. Business websites were still in their infancy. I saw a few that worked well – and many that didn’t.

When I tried to add our international department to the organization’s website, I began pulling together what the various department leads wanted communicated on the site. I gathered the information and worked with the programmers to bring it together. From the programmers I often heard it was not possible to do some things I envisioned.

That experience taught me three things:

  • First, I love the web and web design.
  • Second, I love the process of pulling information together and making sense of it.
  • And third, there is almost always a way to accomplish something if you’re willing to think creatively.

After about eighteen months of full-time intensive study in design, coding, and user experience, I began working as a web designer. My first career in fashion design and patternmaking for clothing manufacturers made familiar territory of creating and building things.

In some ways web design isn’t so different from fashion design and patternmaking – both involve translating a creative vision into something structured, precise, and built to work in the real world.

Learning how websites actually work behind the scenes also meant that when clients imagine something specific for their site, the conversation doesn’t have to end with “you can’t do that.” Often it simply means finding the right way to make it happen.

That philosophy continues to guide my work today: helping established businesses clarify their message and create websites that support their sales process and long-term growth.

The Businesses I Work Best With

Over the years I’ve found that the most successful projects tend to share a few things in common.

The businesses I work with are usually established organizations that care deeply about how their company is represented and understand the value of thoughtful planning.

Many are:

  • Manufacturers and distributors whose websites need to clearly explain products, capabilities, or ordering processes
  • Professional service firms that rely on credibility and trust when clients evaluate their options
  • B2B companies with complex offerings that require more than a simple brochure-style website

What these organizations often share is a desire for clarity – both in their message and in the process of creating the website itself.

When that clarity exists, the website becomes much more than an online presence. It becomes a tool that supports how the business grows.

They also desire – no require – a web partner who is responsive and reliable. One who appreciates the value of their time and input.
