The "Team"

Leah Richter

Leah Richter head photo I love the web! I love designing for it, coding for it and helping others understand it (to the extent that they want to). Even though I have been creating custom web sites since 2004, I am still excited at all there is to learn. My first career was in fashion – designing and patternmaking. After a time out to be a mom and homeschool teacher, I worked in administrative positions. As an international conference coordinator and volunteer assimilator, I discovered the wonder of the internet and learned to juggle many projects at once. I fell in love with pushing the limits of computer programs. I went into web work because I loved the internet, but saw far too many sites that were unattractive, hard to navigate or broken. Today those issues have become infrequent, but there are new issues to replace them, such as inaccessibility to visually or physically limited individuals and not being responsive to varying screen sizes. Content or design that don’t connect with the user and slow load times are still issues. I also knew that going into web work would keep me from getting bored because of technology’s ever-changing nature. Luckily, I love learning. Design and coding are enjoyed equally by me, and I like to balance doing both. However, I  realize that content is the most important part of a website and I work to ensure the content connects with the target audience. I sincerely care about my clients and want them to succeed. My goal is that their website connects with their customers or clients in a way that encourages them to take the next step. Leah Richter
Credentials

I earned a Master’s Certificate in Web Design from Sessions College for Professional Design (then Sessions School of Design in New York City, now in Tempe Arizona) . My focus areas were coding (HTML, CSS, Javascript , PHP and Flash) and Graphic Design (Photoshop and Illustrator). I went on to take  classes in Print Production and InDesign to broaden my graphic design knowledge.

I originally created all sites by hand coding with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP (and Flash). I have been doing WordPress since 2010 and WooCommerce since 2018 (including a lot of customizing plugins to do exactly what my clients want).  In WordPress, I worked primarily in Genesis framework. I have added Elementor to my arsenal, which can add a bevy of interesting functionality without a lot of custom coding. (This website was created with Elementor Pro). I am also proficient with ACF and Custom Post types to create section templates.

I am always taking online classes and learning new things. Many things I had to be able to code are now easily done with blocks, widgets and page builders.

Personal

I have a grown son Jon, who is now married and living in Nashville, Tennessee.

In my spare time I enjoy learning, reading and watching mysteries, and spending time with my fur friend Charlie.

Carlos Sainz number 55I am an avid Formula One racing fan (Carlos Sainz – Ferrari).

Let’s start a conversation. Call me at 847-577-0491.

Faithful Companion Charlie LittleDog

Charlie is my furry partner in crime and joy-source. I don’t know how I would have gotten through Covid without him. He is a mischievous Cavachon, and some say has a personality just like mine.

Charlie mostly sleeps while I work (no, I don’t sleep while I work, though I often work while I sleep), but he is a great inspiration for laughter when awake. That’s because he is “designing” new ways to get into mischief!

Credentials

When you are this cute, you don’t have to have any. But Charlie is intelligent, affectionate and very funny (when he isn’t eating the carpet, white paper goods or my slippers with my feet in them).
